E.g., one of the consequences of the clarification of the notion of 'simultaneity' is the realization that the term 'identity' and common expressions such as "the same" are ambiguous and also need clarification. If we make the distinctions necessary for the latter, our understanding of the former ('simultaneity') is in turn clarified (further).
